Delivering quality Education and Training around snakes in The Northern Territory
Snake Smart NT delivers engaging, practical training that empowers people to safely live and work around snakes in the Northern Territory. Our programs blend science-based knowledge with practical, real-world demonstrations, and helping participants build the confidence to manage snake encounters responsibly and without harm — to people or wildlife.
Training Packages
This one-day course develops the skills and knowledge required to identify, assess, capture, handle, transport, and release native snakes safely and ethically in compliance with Australian wildlife and workplace safety regulations.
Training includes venomous and non-venomous reptiles and focuses on snake identification, snake ecology and behaviour. Practical experience with live snakes is a core component, giving students hands-on skills in real-life situations.
This course is suitable for those who live or work in snake-prone areas and want to reduce risk for themselves, others, and native wildlife.
*This course can be delivered anywhere in the Northern Territory*
Note: $499.99 per participant- Remote deliveries (Outside of Darwin) require a minimum of 6 participants per course.
Our snake safety course for children aged 4–12 teaches kids how to stay safe around snakes in a fun, calm and confidence-building way. The program introduces basic snake facts—what snakes look like, why they’re important, and how they behave— using hands-on demonstrations with safe props. Children learn how to recognise common snake shapes and colours, what to do if they see a snake (stop, stay still, move away slowly, and find an adult), and what not to do, such as touching, chasing or trying to help a snake.
Instructors demonstrate safe distances, how snakes might react when scared, and how adults handle snake encounters responsibly. The course also includes age-appropriate first-aid basics, helping kids understand how grown-ups respond in an emergency without causing fear or panic. Overall, the aim is to build awareness, respect for wildlife and practical safety skills that kids can remember and use confidently. Perfect for pre- and primary schools!
Note: $199.99 for 2 hour session (Maximum 12 children per session)
